Herat: Afghanistan security forces on Tuesday night thwarted Taliban terrorists attempt to attack India-built Salma Dam in Herat province, country's government confirmed on Wednesday.
A government official said the terrorists suffered heavy casualties.
The security forces counter-attacked which forced the Taliban terrorists to escape the spot.
Afghan defense ministry spokesperson Fawad Aman tweeted: "The Taliban attack on Salma Dam failed! #Terrorist Taliban attacked the #Salma Dam in Herat province to destroy it last night. But, fortunately they have suffered heavy casualties and fled the area as result of counter-attacks of #ANDSF."
