Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated US President Donald Trump on his election but triggered a row since X issued a community note against the post.
Sharif posted on X: "Congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on his historic victory for a second term! I look forward to working closely with the incoming Administration to further strengthen and broaden the Pakistan-U.S. partnership. @realDonaldTrump."
Soon after, the post was flagged with a Community Note on X that pointed out that the Prime Minister was accessing the platform using VPN, which, according to Pakistan’s legal framework, is in violation of national regulations, reported The Indian Express.
It is still not clear whether the PM had posted the message from outside Pakistan.
The Shehbaz Sharif-led government had banned access to X in April citing security concerns.
Trump returned to power for his second term after registering a thumping victory in the US Presidential polls.
