The Taliban intercepted a truck full of arms and ammunition on its way to Pakistan, according to media reports.
The truck carrying the weapons was coming from Helmand province of Afghanistan was halted in Daman district Kandahar and a large number of arms were confiscated during the raid, according to a report in Daily Ausaf.
The Taliban have said that the arms were being smuggled into Pakistan for terrorism through Chaman.
The truck driver has been arrested and transferred to an unknown location.
A Taliban commander said the vehicle was raided based on a tip-off and added that the action was taken as the Taliban would not allow Afghanistan soil to be used against any country, Daily Ausaf reported.
With aid cut off and overseas deposits frozen, running a cash-strapped Afghan economy is a challenge for the Taliban.
In the situation, the Taliban is, reportedly, seizing the weapons left behind by the US forces to replenish its stock of arms and ammunition.
Since its hostile takeover of Afghanistan, the Taliban got hold of $ 85 billion worth of weapons that were left behind by the US forces, Donald Trump Jr said last month.
