Kabul: A roadside mine blast killed a local police chief in Afghanistan's Ghazni on Wednesday.
The incident took place while Habibullah, the head of police in Deh Yak district, was on his way to meet security forces, who were engaged in a fight with the Taliban militants, said local Tolo News.
According to reports, the Taliban has increased its offensive towards the security forces in recent times, killing several personnel in various parts of the country.
The militant group attacked several security checkposts in the district, reports added.
On Tuesday, Mir Zaman, the police commander in Nangarhar's Kuz Kunar district was killed in a suicide bombing.
Two other people, identified as the commander's guards, were also killed in the blast, according to the local governor spokesman. The incident left 10 others injured.
