Kabul: At least 25 armed men have been nabbed by Afghanistan's security forces in the country's Faryab province, local Tolo News reported.
The incident took place on Thursday night after the 209 Shaheen Corps raided a building located near Faryab Airport in Maimana City, the provincial capital.
The company's spokesperson, Mohammad Hanif Rezaee, told the outlet that they raid was launched based on intelligence input. He said that the men had gathered there to plan a coordinated attack on government forces.
Rezaee added that nine light weapons, two Humvees, four police Ranger vehicles, one armed SUV vehicle and two heavy weapons were seized during the operation.
He said that at least two people were killed during the operation, while another two people sustained injuries.
