Kabul: Over 20 Taliban militants, including a top commander, have been killed in airstrikes conducted by Afghan forces in several provinces of the country, local Tolo News reported.
The outlet quoted the Afghan Ministry of Defence as saying that 16 airstrikes were carried out by the forces, resulting in the death of at least 22 militants.
The airstrikes also injured 20 militants.
According to a ministry statement, the airstrikes were carried out in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kapisa, Khost, Logar, Paktia, Kandahar, Zabul, Badghis, Balkh, Faryab, Badakhshan, Kunduz and Helmand provinces.
Vehicles and weapons belonging to the Taliban group were also destroyed during the air raids.
The Taliban has not commented on the report.
