UK National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell met the Bangladesh interim government chief Muhammad Yunus in London during the Nobel laureate's four-day visit to the country.
The details of the meeting have not been revealed so far.
National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman, Principal Coordinator on SDG affairs Lamiya Morshed, Chief Adviser's Special Envoy Lutfey Siddiqi, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Bangladesh High Commissioner to UK Abida Islam, among others, were present at the meeting, reported The Daily Star.
Meanwhile, a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates protested against Yunus' visit to London, criticising his role as the Interim Government chief.
According to Bangladeshi media reports, after Yunus arrived at the hotel, a group of people gathered outside it and demonstrated, vowing to continue it till Yunus stayed in the city.
Several former lawmakers took part in the protest in front of the Dorchester Hotel. Among them, former MP from Sunamganj-1 constituency Ranjit Sarkar, former MP from Habiganj-3 constituency and joint general secretary of Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League Bidhan Kumar Saha were seen in public for the first time, reported Prothom Alo.
